On April 3, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency in Dar es Salaam, four standout ventures were named winners of the Adaptation & Resilience ClimAccelerator Demo Day, an inspiring celebration of climate innovation dedicated to helping Tanzania’s rural communities adapt to the effects of climate change.
The winning startups - HerVEG.05, InsectUp, Mbegu Nzuri Biotech Farms Ltd and Rada 360 stood out among a cohort of ten after months of intensive training, mentorship, and pitching. Each winner received €10,000 and will move into the next critical step of the programme: real-life testing of their solutions. Here, they’ll pilot and refine their solutions that help rural communities prepare for, cope with and recover from current and future climate impacts.
Tanzania, like many African nations, is increasingly affected by unpredictable weather, droughts, and other climate shocks. Rural communities and smallholder farmers are among the most vulnerable and these ventures are working to change that by offering locally relevant, scalable solutions.
Meet the Selected Start-ups
HerVEG.05
Promotes climate-friendly, nutrient-rich vegetable cultivation to improve food security and nutrition, especially among women and vulnerable groups.
InsectUp
Transforms organic waste into insect protein for animal feed using black soldier flies, reducing waste while strengthening local food systems.
Mbegu Nzuri Biotech Farms Ltd
Provides drought-tolerant and pest-resistant seed varieties to help farmers maintain yields under changing climate conditions.
Rada 360
Delivers hyper-local weather forecasts and farming advice through a digital platform, enabling smallholder farmers to make timely, informed decisions.

What’s Next?
The four selected ventures will now engage in real life testing, working closely with end-users to refine their solutions. This will not only validate their approach but also help shape more sustainable and impactful business models. As alumni of the ClimAccelerator, they’ll also continue to access long-term support through the Adaptation Innovation Cluster in Tanzania, as well as international exposure through Climate-KIC and SmartLab’s global networks.
Now in its second year, the Adaptation and Resilience ClimAccelerator continues to back bold ideas that are shaping a more resilient future, starting with the communities that need it most.
