Raleigh International, Tanzania visits SmartLab as part of their Field Visit

On the 1st October 2019, SmartLab was honored to have a visit  from Raleigh International Tanzania with their partner Novartis, a reputable multinational pharmaceutical company in Switzerland and one of their startups as part of their Youth Social Enterprise Accelerator workshop being run by Raleigh Tanzania.

The main purpose of the visit was to support their startups (young entrepreneurs) with market research but also to learn SmartLab’s initiative to support youth entrepreneurs and how to impact the community while building a startup that scales.

Raleigh Tanzania and their corporate partner Novartis, run a series of 7-day interactive training workshops titled the ‘Youth Social Enterprise Accelerator’ (YSEA). It is led by Raleigh, with senior executives from around the world participating to support young entrepreneurs (18 to 35 years old) and aspiring businessmen and women to take their ideas and ambitions forward to the next step. These workshops focus on youth enterprises that address hygiene, nutrition and/ or access to healthcare challenges conducted in Dar es Salaam and Morogoro region. The next workshops are to happen in Morogoro from 8th to15th Nov (Group 3) and 18th to 22nd Nov (Group 4) for this year.

It has been registered under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act, 2002 (no. 00001469) since 2012 and operates with a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sport in Tanzania, and President's Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PO RALG). Raleigh also has MOUs with each of District Councils in the areas where we work, in the themes of Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Natural Resource Management (NRM), Youth in Civil Society (YiCS) and Livelihoods.
